Biological help for your soil and plants

Biochar

We make our own biochar from prunings and intercepted waste streams, quenched with rainwater, inoculated with fermented plant extracts from our gardens.

Biochar has massive surface area and is shown to help increase moisture retention and nutrient availability in the soil, where it lasts for hundreds of years.

Vermicompost

We also produce limited amounts of quality vermicompost for our own potting mix, making surplus available for sale from 60p a litre.

This living soil is made from local intercepted waste streams, natural inputs processed by composting worms. This compost is top quality, giving good texture and nutrition. Please enquire and visit the nursery to see a sample.

Bagged certified organic compost

We source organic bagged compost from reputable companies Dalefoot and Melcourt, both only retail peat free products. Please enquire about bulk options, we should be able to help. If you have any questions about the most suitable option, please just ask.

Delivery

Minimum order of 3 bags. Delivery cost depending on distance. We can collate larger orders if you’re further away, we know it can be hard to get hold of. Please get in touch. We deliver to Duffield, Milford, Belper, Holbrook, Heage, Ambergate, Ripley, Crich, Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, and areas of Derby and the Peak District.

Why buy from us? 

We’re a workers cooperative, that means we use profits to pay our workers, who co-own and collectively manage the business. We’re a young, small business. We reinvest surplus into the business, to grow gardens!

When you buy from us, you support our small business to continue. You help maintain the restorative practices of the compost producers we buy from. As a co-operative society, we reinvest profits to pay workers and grow gardens.

We’re not like a garden centre, we don’t have a huge range sat on pallets with plastic displays. The growing media we stock are proven, high quality, and award winning.
