It’s that time of year for a seed packing party! Call out for volunteers who’d like to help us!
We see seedsaving as a vital part of agroecology. Giving space for plants to live their full life cycle, increasing resilience through local adaptation and the meditative work of the fine details handling seeds. We have grown many plants and saved seed from select species. This cycle started early in the calendar year. Now, as the wheel turns and we are into autumn, seeds have been harvested and processed – they now need to be packed so they can be distributed to many more people!
We pack into paper packets with hand written labels, it makes best sense, working at the human scale. We have tiny scoops as measures. It’s a satisfying, detailed task and we look forward to sharing that with others.
We are having a Seed Saving Party on October 11th at Reunion Deli in Belper between 10am and 2pm. Ryan and Cristina will be there and look forward to meeting volunteers who would like to sit with us to help pack seeds and chat over cups of tea.
Please note, for us to use this space, all food and drinks must be purchased from Reunion Deli (we will put in a budget for drinks for volunteers). Free carafes of water and glasses available.
If driving there is free parking at Coppice Car Park, behind Market Square.
