We grow a garden full of food and flowers. Starting with the soil health, we care for the garden organically. We then propagate from the plants to grow all our own plants to sell, rather than buying in.

Most of the plants we sell also grow in the garden. This means we know them well. Here are 5 top things about our garden in summer:

  1. We haven’t been watering through this hot spell because the plants we grow are resilient. With established root systems, they find what they need.
  2. Perennial plants grow abundantly, giving lots of crops to harvest if we choose. Also, protecting the soil from getting parched.
  3. Diversity of plants means there’s always something doing well even if others stutter and a variety of uses.
  4. It’s full up, it wasn’t all eaten in Slugageddon!
  5. There are loads of flowers! Tiny Mountain Sorrel flowers producing seed that we save and sow. Dyer’s chamomile giving loads of yellow blooms to save for natural dyeing. Mints feeding wild and honey bees. Plus, cornflower, marigold, echinacea and more besides because we like flowers!

We will be taking all the plants featured in the video plus many more to Wirksworth Market this Saturday 3 August.

Hope to see you there! Our garden and small plant nursery is open Friday and Saturday mornings.
