If you’re a gardener – which you probably are if you’re reading this (or at least gardening curious) – you know that two of the most important things for growing plants are heat and light. Which means marking the solstices, the fixed points in the year with the most sun and the least sun, is a great way to keep track of your gardening journey.

Winter Solstice, which is happening today, marks the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. So, there’s good news for gardeners there – the days are going to start getting longer, and longer days means more time to spend getting your hands muddy.

It also means now’s a great time to start thinking about next year and what it’s going to hold for your plants. If you’re looking for some help with that, then you’ve come to the right place. Whether it’s gardening one-offs or permaculture design, get in touch.

End the year right

You’ve also got time to get some Christmas presents bought. And it just so happens that a wonderful gift for the gardener in your life is one of our Earthed Up! gift cards. You can spend them on plants, gardening services, compost and much more.

However you choose to celebrate the turning of the year, the team here at Earthed Up! – Carol, Dom, Harry and Ryan – wish you the very best for whatever the new light brings you, and happy gardening too!
