We are through round one and two of seed sowing for 2023. That’s over 800 plants started so far and we’ve not got to the big sowing list yet. And you know what? I’m thinking to grow even more than first planned!
Is less more?
The spreadsheets suggest we will grow less plants this year. For the past 2 years we had some trial and error – we were new to this! And we had gardens to establish. Last summer taught us some hard lessons, quickly. Keeping potted plants thriving through a drought and the Record Heatwave wasn’t fun to be honest.
We have resolved to grow less in pots. It makes more sense. However, that means you need to come see us more! We will be on the road less. We have regular opening times at our Belper Lane End garden – see the garden, pick out plants, collect compost and biochar.
When we do venture out, we know we’re going to be busy. Belper Plant Fair in mid-May, the Midlands Permaculture Festival the weekend after. There are open garden events and other festivals. And we know people will be prioritising healthy plants grown in healthy soil, that will feed them for years to come.
How do you like it? How do you like it?
More, more, more! If we don’t have it, we can’t sell it. So, I’m going to try my hardest to grow ample of your favourites – kales, minutina, basils, dill, many mints, sorrel and tens more varieties.
And please, fill your garden with food and a cast of supporting characters! Because I’d hate to have to fill ours with it… Tell your friends about us too? Thanks.
Maybe come see us? We’re open Mondays, Friday mornings and Saturday mornings.
